I love reading this author's work and even though I didn't read the other books that these characters came from, I was able to pick up on the book. The author has a way with writing that draws you into the story and keeps you hooked until the very end. Overall this book was good and I look forward to the next book in the series. Just a fair warning though there is no HEA as you will have a major cliffhanger at the ending.Brooke has a lot of baggage and most of it is from what has happened to her. She does the best that she can and you get to find out pieces of what she has experienced. She has trust issues but who doesn't and when you have gone through what she has, you would be the same way. The more you get to know about her, the more you wish you were right next to her, helping her with everything. When she decides to do some role playing with her boyfriend Jett, things start to heat up. Jett is the rich alpha male, who is hotter than hell with a dominant side to him. They both have secrets and tell lies but is it worth ruining the love that you have?
You will feel the connection between the characters and when the sex comes, oh my will it make you blush. They have a great connection together but when lies and secrets come into play, that can take the connection and turn it in different directions. This book will leave you hanging with questions that need answers to. I have so many and want to know how things play out.

I have to admit....I'm disappointed....what happened to the storyline...why is Brooke sooooo insecure? Let's really think about this....she's a damsel with no distress. Always thinking....and now she may take pictures???? Huh? You want a marriage proposal....but you don't trust Jett....huh???? ...and speaking of Jett... his scenes are poorly written....2 stars for a lackluster mystery...the opening scene is a missed opportunity to incorporate comedy in the storyline...that fell flat...Brooke's flashbacks were just stupid...go see a therapist and feel better already...and it's 2015...when a woman see her man kissing another woman, she doesn't runaway...she kicks his azz, then the other woman's azz...and then maybe she leaves....maybe....
Am I going to get the next book...I don't know...I need closure, but don't want to waste anymore money.
Oh my, where to start with this little gem of a book?!
First let me say this; This is a SERIES of books, so don't expect to just read this one and be satisfied with the story and be able to go about your life as if these books never happened. (Don't let this discourage you from reading this story though! It's worth the emotional turmoil you will have waiting for the next book!)
Second; No, you don't have to have read the first 3 books, which in order are
1. Surrender Your Love
2. Concur Your Love
3. Treasure Your Love
It adds to the story and gives you a little more background if you have read them, but you can start from here and follow along relatively easy. In fact, having read the first 3 books before this one, it did create a little confusion at first when this story starts, but you quickly figure out what's going on and get sucked right back in to the story.
I love J.C. Reeds writing style. Getting to read the story from inside Brooks head and in such detail is amazing. It really helps pull you into the story and you feel all of her emotions Hope, fear, longing to feel safe, love, mistrust, anger, painful betrayal, and lets not forget lust!
The story starts off with steamy romance and hot flaming sex. Then the story turns into a smoldering pile of coals, just waiting to be brought back to life. The heat from those coals slowly changes into the heat of anger and betrayal and before you know it the story's on fire again, but this time it's a destructive fire. A roller coaster ride from beginning to end! I wanted to scream at the cliff hanger ending! I've ran the gauntlet of emotions with this one, just like I did with the other 3 books, and even though I wanted to have a rage fest that this ended where it did, I will patiently (HA! yeah right) wait for the next book.

I purchased this book thinking that this was a new series. I read through the entire book thinking, "wow" I have no connection to these characters, a prologue that doesn't connect the story and scenes where she talks about what's happened to her, but doesn't elaborate. So, I trolled. Yes, literally trolled and the author's page to figure this out. It looks like this book is a continuation of the surrender series. I'm completely annoyed because lots of story from the other series is revealed in the book and it has totally ruined it for me! If you haven't read the other series, this story makes no sense, provides no connection to the characters and all and all feels rushed. Perhaps this book should be marked as a book 4 instead.
I loved JCs previous trilogy, but I have to advise anyone that liked them as well, that this book is not even close to those. Brooke's inner dialogue was exhausting, repetitive, and boring. Jett was hardly even a part of the story. The teasers of what may come were drawn out and confusing at times. I have checked out the reviews of the next 2 in this new trilogy and based on those and book samples I'm not wasting my time and $. Sorry JC, maybe future books will be better-will wait and see. I think this trilogy could have been one book, and would have played out better and cut out the repetitiveness down. Felt like she was trying to ride on the coattails of the success of the first trilogy, yet was a profound fail. I hate writing bad reviews, but can only hope that it will help her future books.
